Applying to also non-members, the
annual get-together, the Albion Rally, is definitely the biggest event of
the Albion MC club calendar.
However, originally set up and
arranged by the Touring Section of the FMS (a local motor sports
organization) the tradition of an Albion Rally, aimed at and attended by
mainly British bike riders, dates back to the years previous to the actual
foundation of the Albion MC club.
This healthy idea was carried on by
the newly started Albion MC.
The setting of the Rally has always
been on the island of Fyn, conveniently situated right in the centre of
Denmark. For a number of years the venue has been Trente Mølle, an old
watermill, beautifully situated in the countryside of southern Fyn.
Within this country and the rest of
Scandinavia, the Albion Rally "competes" with quite a few similar events
applying to more or less the same number of people - and admittedly a
rather limited number, too. Therefore, in order to avoid events coinciding
- and so far succesfully - it has been scheduled by "a gentlemen’s
agreement" to the last weekend of July as the fixed date for the
festivities.
Besides a unique opportunity of having
a good chat about..... well, British bikes, naturally, the Rally
features an approx. two-hour guided tour, barbecue, prizes and
awards, live music and last but not least ample provision of the
commodities of life (i.e. food and drinks) at a reasonable cost.
As to accommodation, you can bring
your own tent or, in case you don’t want to load your bike with a pile of
gear, you can go for the option of an indoor bed/berth, at your disposal
in limited, but usually sufficient numbers.
Highly emphasized and persistantly
maintained, the trademark of the Rally is, and has always been, that of a
friendly, relaxed being-together in a civil manner, quite true to the
prevailing Albion MC spirit. Thus it is an event for the whole family to
join!
Don’t panic even if your usual
British mount should refuse to take you anywhere! In this almost
unthinkable case Albion MC, being very open-minded, also welcomes non-British bike riders....you just
have to put up with leaving your transport in the "pigsty" outside the
actual rally site.
Tourists passing by,
neighbours etc. are also welcomed to visit the site. Browsing along the vast range and display of glorious machinery, some
just
might be inspired by all the goodies?!
